This policy explains how Mercer Commerce (“we”, “us”) collects and uses personal information when you visit mercercommerce.com or contact us. We are committed to handling your data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Mercer Commerce provides e-commerce, inventory, automation, wholesale/retail and SEO services. For any question about this policy or your data, email us at hello@mercercommerce.com.
What information we collect
- Information you send us: when you use our contact form we collect your name, email address, business name or website (optional), the service you are interested in and your message.
- WhatsApp and email: if you message us on WhatsApp or by email, we receive your phone number or email address and the content of your messages.
- Technical information: like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, for security and to keep the site running.
- Cookies: see the cookies section below.
How we use your information
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange your free consultation.
- To prepare a proposal or quote and, if you become a client, to deliver our services.
- To keep our website secure and working properly.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not send you marketing emails unless you ask us to.
Our legal basis
We process your information because it is necessary to respond to your request and take steps before entering into a contract with you, and for our legitimate interests in running and protecting our business and website. Where we rely on your consent (for example, for non-essential cookies), you can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with trusted providers who help us run our business, and only as needed:
- Website hosting: Bluehost, which hosts this website.
- Email: Google Workspace, which we use for our email.
- Messaging: WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to contact us there. WhatsApp’s own privacy policy applies to your use of WhatsApp.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, they use appropriate safeguards required by UK data protection law. We may also disclose information if required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry information for as long as needed to deal with your request and for up to 24 months afterwards, unless you become a client, in which case we keep records for as long as required for our contract and legal obligations.
Cookies
Our website uses a small number of cookies that are needed for it to work, for example to remember your language choice (English or Spanish). If we add analytics or other non-essential cookies in the future, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@mercercommerce.com. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
Security
Our website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and we take reasonable steps to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
